EMC

AMS is conducting its EMC Course in the AMS Training Institute. This course is February 20-22, 2012. CLE credits are available.

This course will define for the attendee the basic principles of electromagnetic compatibility and then provide proven solutions to common problems of electromagnetic interference. This comprehensive course includes the following topics:

  • Fundamentals of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI)
  • Sources of EMI problems and electromagnetic field coupling (with demonstrations)
  • Shielding requirements with discussion of near filed, far field, and apertures (with demonstrations)
  • Designing circuits and systems: principles for creating EMC (with demonstrations)
  • Troubleshooting methodology: the process of organizing and conduting an EMI investigation
  • Troubleshooting equipment limitations and recommendations
  • Qualification testing and meeting EPRI, military, NRC, and IEEE standards requirements
  • Use of grounding to solve EMI: how, when, and why (with demonstrations)
  • Protection of equipment from the catastrophic effects of lightning
